The Legal Aid Society of Hawaii, a community-based, nonprofit law firm, has empowered low-income and disadvantaged people throughout Hawaii for over 60 years. It is the only civil legal service provider in the state, and one of the few non-profits, with statewide coverage through ten offices, from Lanai to urban Honolulu. Legal Aid provides assistance to clients facing family, housing, consumer, public benefits, tax, child welfare, elder law, and immigration issues.

Legal Aid continues to be guided by its original mission -to provide access to justice for all low-income citizens of Hawaii. Legal Aid's clients are individuals and families with incomes up to 125% or below 250% of the federal poverty level.

For the most vulnerable in our society, legal advocacy from a trusted community resource can mean the difference between receiving food and shelter, being able to visit and ensure the safety of their children, and being protected from fraud and predatory consumer practices. Legal Aid's services help to achieve access to justice for Hawaii's low-income individuals and families by acting as a safety net to ensure that those most disenfranchised have access to the legal system.

In 2012, Legal Aid held the first Justice Games Scavenger Hunt Fundraiser. Fifteen teams, including teams from local law firms, raced around downtown Honolulu competing for top prizes. Based on the success of this event, Legal Aid held the Second Annual Justice...
