After a self-employed career in telecom equipment and thoroughbred-racing databases, the "happily retired" Bud Henriksen returned to his earlier love of playing jazz guitar. One problem: "I couldn't buy an amplifier that sounded worth a damn," said Henriksen. "So I built one principally for myself." This marked the birth of the JazzAmp in 2006. Friends asked him to make an amp for them, then Henriksen enlisted his two sons Peter and Eric and started making amplifiers full-time.

"We've picked up a long list of players who use our amps, sort of a who's who of the geniuses of jazz guitar," Henriksen said.
