The jail operations instructor will conduct NSA Basic and Advanced Jail Operations Courses with duties to include: coordinating jail operations training; proactively searching for delivery sites for NSA jail training/audits; taking and confirming orders for jail courses; scheduling and coordinating course locations; preparing curricula; delivering and/or coordinating course delivery; and coordinating Web-based training initiatives.
Regarding curricula development, the incumbent will: review NSA and other jail training courses; determine five to eight new fee-based jail courses; locate appropriate existing courses/instructors that can be used; prepare one- and two-day courses for basic and advanced topics; and create certificates and maintain rosters.
In order for NSA to be competitive in jail training for a fee, we must proactively develop/buy curricula and use in-house. The deliver method would be by using staff, online capabilities and consultant trainers. Both ACA and AJA use this method for delivery. Currently, NSA has no jail training staff and no schedule of courses. There is enough need and material available to effect this needed addition to NSA capacities.
