The Israeli Law, Information, and Technology Authority (ILITA), Israel's privacy regulator, continues to take a tough stance with data controllers in that country.

ILITA has fined several data controllers from the public and private sectors up to $70,000 (NIS 258,000) for illegally using and trading personal data.

It fined one such firm, M.N.R. Data Systems, $70,000 for providing its customers, including dozens of law firms, with illegally obtained data to help them locate debtors and identify their relatives. As part of the criminal investigation, ILITA obtained a warrant to search and copy data from the company's computers and databases.
