The prospects of longer life for patients with advanced, metastatic breast cancer is possible thanks to a new course of treatment called integrative regulatory therapy (IRT), according to the results of a study at Oasis of Hope Hospital, Tijuana, Mexico. When combined with chemotherapy, it offers a 75% survival rate after five years for patients. That compares to a 20% survival rate for patients receiving conventional treatment in the U.S., according to statistics from the National Cancer Institute, Reston, Va.

The study included patients with stage IV breast cancer who received a treatment of chemotherapy, ozone, ultraviolet light, vitamins, and other pharmacy-grade natural substances, as well as oxidative preconditioning, which helps healthy cells survive chemotherapy.

Patients with ovarian, lung, and colorectal cancer also had higher survival rates than those receiving conventional treatment.
