More than 300 defense professionals are expected to attend a conference sponsored by WID's Iowa-Illinois Chapter in late March, at the Radisson Quad City Hotel and Conference Center in Davenport, Ill. Suzanne Patrick, deputy undersecretary of defense for industrial policy, is scheduled to address the theme of the event, "Women Leaders in a Changing World."

The event is designed for members and potential members of the Iowa-Illinois Chapters of WID and NDIA, according to Sue Crisp, president of the chapter. Crisp, who is also ombudsman and competition advocate at the U.S. Army Operations Support Command in Rock Island, Ill., explained the purpose of the event:

"We want to provide our members with a conference touching on a wide range of topics of interest to professional women. Speakers will range from large corporations to small business, to military personnel and civilians. They will cover such diverse topics as military family challenges, workplace safety, women's health challenges, and mentoring and professional development."

WID's National Board of Directors is proud of the progress and the momentum of our Iowa-Illinois Chapter. By holding timely and relevant events, the Iowa-Illinois Chapter is leading the way in helping to focus and define the roles, challenges and contributions that women make to our national security.
