Tyson Foods-Mexican Originals and Fortco Plastics, both in Portland, are keeping Jay County in an expansion mode, reports Bob Quadrozzi, executive director of the Jay County Development Corp.

Tyson's latest $2.5 million investment--which follows a $2 million investment the year before--brings a new baked-shell line for Taco Bell to the plant, adding about 20 new jobs to the workforce of 425. And Fortco purchased new blow-molding equipment, spending $815,000--again, a repeat of the previous year's expansion--and adding about six new jobs to its base of 84.
