People who stand up for their beliefs have integrity and character, says Dennis AuBuchon in his new book, Integrity: Do You I lave it? AuBuchon, with more than 35 years of experience in government, writes about the importance of integrity in education, business, politics and society in general.

AuBuchon takes a different approach from most books on ethics and values, lie uses the term "integrity" and applies it to codes of ethics of various professions and organizations.

He believes that people who practice integrity should have data. Much of the book is devoted to Web sites and excerpts from various ethics codes. The format in each chapter is similar to the one entitled Integrity in the News. AuBuchon reprints the lengthy code of ethics of the Society of Professional Journalists. He discusses aspects of the code and how people should evaluate news coverage. This approach may seem tedious to some, but it does make codes of ethics-which tend to be compliance driven--relevant to the reader.

AuBuchon says that elected officials at all levels must be held to a higher standard and held accountable. He adds an interesting element-integrity and character must be public, and citizens need to know about it.
