Everyone in Alaska is all too aware of the steep cycle that we have seen within the insurance marketplace over the past several years. Across the full spectrum of the business community, and for nearly all lines of coverage, insurance premiums have increased, in some cases dramatically. Insurance companies have restricted product lines, withdrawn from some markets completely or simply gone out of business.

Even given all of these issues, in Alaska we are actually very fortunate when you look at the general insurance climate in comparison with the scope of products and services that are currently being offered. There are two key components to maintaining and improving this position. First is the strong and increasingly stable regulatory climate that has been established.
