Trilateral Cooperation on Women’s
Empowerment and Gender Equality (DOS)
Scope: The State Department’s U.S. Mission to Japan
seeks applications for the FY21 U.S. Embassy Tok yo:
Trilateral Cooperation on Women’s Empowerment and
Gender Equality announcement to empower women
and work toward gender equality trilaterally, deepening
U.S.-Japan-Republic of Korea (ROK) cooperation.
Deadline: March 31, 2021.
Funds: $70,000 total for up to three awards ranging
from $5,000 to $70,000. The maximum project period is
24 months.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities; for-prot
organizations, including small businesses; nonprot
organizations; state, local, and Native American tribal
governments; and qualied individuals, among others.
Areas: DOS said it seeks proposals that empower
women and advance gender equality and is particularly
interested in supporting programs that include
mentoring, leadership development, skills training,
exchange, and policy research focused on advancing
women generally or in specic elds. All programs must
include U.S., Japan, and ROK components and should
be designed to foster sustainable cooperation between
institutions in these countries.

Alumni Capacity Building (DOS)
Scope: The State Department’s U.S. Mission to Japan
seeks applications for the FY2021 U.S. Embassy Tok yo:
Alumni Capacity Building announcement to engage
in the capacity building of U.S. government program
alumni, through alumni-driven projects or programs that
facilitate alumni leadership development and networks
necessary to pursue and protect U.S. interests abroad.
Deadline: March 31, 2021.
Funds: $65,000 total for up to three awards ranging
from $5,000 to $40,000.
Eligibility: Unrestricted.
Areas: DOS said priorities include activities that:
strengthen DOS ties to Japanese-citizen alumni by
offering benets which allow them to expand upon
their exchange experiences and use the skills they
developed abroad to address shared global challenges;
provide Japanese alumni with information, resources,
and networks that will allow them to leverage skills and
experiences gained through their exchanges to prosper
in a globalized world and marketplace; support alumni-
driven initiatives that address international issues of
common concern and promote mutual understanding
between the United States and Japan; and reinforce
existing alumni program identities and build a sense
of common identity among past participants of U.S.
government-sponsored exchange programs.

Hazardous Waste Management Grant Program
for Tribes (EPA)
Scope: The Environmental Protection Agency
seeks applications for the FY21 Hazardous Waste
Management Grant Program for Tribes announcement
for the development and implementation of hazardous
waste programs and for building capacity to address
hazardous waste management in Indian country.
Deadline: March 30, 2021.
Funds: $300,000 total for up to three awards of up to
$100,000.
Eligibility: A Native American tribal government and an
intertribal consortium or consortia.
Areas: The EPA said programs must improve the
applicant’s ability to properly identify, manage, or
dispose of hazardous waste. Activities may include
but are not limited to: Hazardous Waste Identication;
Hazardous Waste Generator Siting, Monitoring, &
Compliance (Large Quantity, Small Quantity, and
Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generators);
Hazardous Waste Minimization and Recycling, and
the Management of Used Oil, and Universal Wastes;
Hazardous Waste Transpor tation; Treatment, Storage,
and Disposal Facility Siting, Permitting, Monitoring,
Corrective Action, and Enforcement; Land Disposal
Restrictions; and Combustion.
