Legal Research Miscellanea
For this month’s Information Connection column, I have several separate resources to share with you. Although somewhat unrelated to one another, they are united by their usefulness.
CLEs
How do you earn your 15 credit hours of continuing legal education (CLE) each year? Did you know that you can receive CLE credit for watching a DVD or listening to a CD? According to Rule 5(e) of the Rules of the Wyoming State Board of Continuing Legal Education, “An attorney may receive a maximum of six hours of continuing legal education credit for self-study programs where audio, video or online material is used. No hours may be carried over to any subsequent years.”
The George W. Hopper Law Library has a collection of CLE materials in audio and video format. If you do a keyword search in the library catalog for CLE self-study, a number of records will come up. Titles such as Essentials of Elder Law, Attorney-Client Privilege in Electronic Communication and Fiduciary Litigation Rebooted are available. If you live in Laramie, you’re welcome to visit the library to check out materials. If you’re elsewhere in the state, we can ship them to you. If you would like to inquire about borrowing an item, contact us (http:// www.uwyo.edu/lawlib/askus/). We have a web page (http://www.uwyo.edu/lawlib/al-umniservices) that includes reminders about how to search for CLEs in our collection.
If you have specific questions about CLEs or whether or not a CLE would qualify, contact the Wyoming State Bar.
Bloomberg Law Access
Another exciting possible resource for you is Bloomberg Law Patron Access. Members of the public now have access to Bloomberg Law Patron Access at the George W. Hopper Law Library (http://www.uwyo.edu/lawlib) and at the Goodstein Foundation Library at Casper College (http://www.caspercollege.edu/library). Bloomberg provides access to dockets and court flings, business information and legal treatises, among other things. If you live near Laramie or Casper, definitely remember this amazing resource.
This is an appropriate time to remind alumni of the College of Law that they have access to HeinOnline, the legal database, as well as other University of Wyoming Libraries databases. Information about access to these...
