INDIVIDUALS HONORED FOR SPECIAL OPS WORK.

The National Defense Industrial Association's Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict division recognized eight individuals in November during its annual Special Operations/Low Intensity Conflict conference in Washington, D.C.

Joseph Votel was honored with the R. Lynn Rylander Award--the SO/LIC division's highest honor. Votel is a retired Army four-star officer who served as commander of Special Operations Command from 2014 to 2016 and later Central Command until his retirement in 2019. He currently serves as the president and CEO of Business Executives for National Security, a consulting agency.

The division awarded the DeProspero Lifetime Achievement Award to Ken Tovo, former commander of Army Special Operations Command. He was responsible for manning, training, equipping and providing strategic direction to all the service's Special Ops forces, a combined organization of more than 34,000 personnel.
