The reader's complaint (Saul Salinas, May/June 2007) about the use of the word "Indian" is irrelevant. There are many words in every language that have no logical etymological link to how they are used. Americans, Native Americans, not to mention the two continents as well as this magazine, are named after Italian navigator and mapmaker Amerigo Vespucci.
