With a new solar mega-project, India aims to expand its solar power generation capacity from the current 3 megawatts to a reported 20 gigawatts (GW) by 2020 and 200 GW by 2050. The project, which was approved "in principle" in August, will form the centerpiece of India's efforts to address climate change and will cost an estimated US$20 billion to implement.
