In Memorium:
Charles T. (Terry) Hendrix
Those associated with Homicide Studies were saddened to learn of the passing of Terry
Hendrix, a retired Journals Editor at Sage Publications. As described in the inaugural
issue of Homicide Studies, a group attending the 1994 American Society of Criminology
meetings decided on a leap of faith to pursue the establishment of a journal devoted to
the study of homicide. One member of the group knew Terry from previous work with
him and thought he would be an excellent contact to begin sorting through how this
might be accomplished. Terry was attending the meetings, so was approached the next
day. It developed that Terry was quite interested in the concept and thought Sage
would be interested. He was right, and over the next 2 years personally spearheaded
the effort to make it happen under the sponsorship of the Homicide Research Working
Group. He continued to be quite involved with the journal as it endured the ups and
downs of the early start-up years.
Those involved with the journal, past and present, owe a debt of gratitude to Terry
Hendrix for his contribution in providing the criminology and criminal justice com-
munity with Homicide Studies, a journal now in its 27th volume. He is remembered
with great fondness and appreciation.
