Friends

and

colleagues were shocked and saddened by the death

of John Peshel,

43,

conciliation counselor in the Sen Diego Conciliation

Court, from a heart attack on March

3,

1964.

John,

a

clinical psychologist, was former Director

of

the San

Diego Social Service Department.

Active in sports as a youth, he was one

of

the original players

on the old San Diego Skyhawks Hockey team in

1941

A

Braduate of the University

of

Southern California, John

served as classification officer

for

the

San

Diego County

Honor

camp

system before becomind a psychologist

in

charge

of

the Social Service

Department in

1956.

From

1958

to

1963

he was a clinical psychologivt for the State

Alcoholic Rehabilitation Clinic in Sen Diego. He became the second mar-

riage counselor

for

tho newly created Conciliation Court

in

Sen Die$o in

June,

1963.

Survivors are his widow, Margaret, and

a

daughter, Susan,

residing at

1406

West Plumose Way, San Diego; three brothers, including

Eugene

of

Sen Diego, and a ,sister, For those who want to communicate

with his wife, she

may

be reached at their home. John was a resident

of

San Diego

for

23

years.

John was known

to

a ride range of persons as a warm human

being motivated by idealism, dedication end devotion to serving others.
