Albert Edwin Germain, a long-time member of the Pittsburgh Chapter and former Vice President of Taxes and General Tax Counsel of the Aluminum Company of America, died in March of this year. Mr. Germain received his B.S. degree from Notre Dame University, J.D. degree from Michigan Law School, and LL.M. degree (in Tax Law) from New York University. He joined Alcoa in 1959, and remained with the company until his retirement in 1993. Mr. Germain served on a host of tax organizations, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Business Roundtable, Financial Executives Institute, and Tax Executives Institute, where he served as president of the Pittsburgh Chapter and a regional vice president. He often testified before tax committees of the U.S. Congress and served on several congressional groups dedicated to reforming the complex U.S. tax system.
