Mellon "Bud" Baird, a member a the National Defense Industrial Association board of directors, passed away in March. Baird served as chairman of NDIA's awards selection committee. Most recently, Baird was president and chief executive officer of Titan Corporation.

Baird started his career in the U.S. Navy and fought in the Korean War. During the course of four decades, he held numerous positions in the defense and aircraft industries.
