Robert G. Pierce

May 30, 1929-October 29, 2019

Robert G. Pierce passed away last year, on October 29, 2019, at 90 years of age. Born in 1929 in Sioux City, Iowa, his parents, Ruth and Glenn, soon moved to Nebraska. A gifted athlete, Bob found great success on the basketball court and had an exceptional high school, college, and semi-pro career. His high school career was capped by MVP status on a 26-0 Lincoln High School 1945-46 state champion team. Bob then attended the University of Nebraska, playing basketball for the Huskers and obtaining a degree in mechanical engineering. His success on the basketball court was recognized in 1993 with his induction into the University of Nebraska Basketball Hall of Fame. A lifelong athlete, he ran the basketball court into his 70s and skied at Mary lane/Winter Park well into his 80s.

After college, Bob played semi-pro basketball for Phillips 66. In the early '50s, he moved to Denver. Ever the pragmatist, he was accepted into Harvard Law School but instead chose to attend the University of Denver, where he obtained his law degree. In 1959, he met Shirley, and the two of them enjoyeda60-yearmarriage, raising two children, Richard and Lynn.

Bob practiced law for 58 years, beginning as a district attorney with the City and County of Denver in 1957, and then running a successful private practice. His dedication to his clients was unquestionable, and his passion and enthusiasm for the practice of law reflected his strong work ethic and his intelligence. He truly enjoyed being an attorney.
