National defense, homeland security and electronic government are all dependent on the seamless flow of information. Some call this "information interoperability," but most just see sharing information as the best way to leverage investments in information technology.

Yet, while the current administration has increased emphasis on integrated enterprise systems, government agencies and the military services often remain locked into their stovepipe legacy systems. Many of these systems remain inadequate to support a robustly networked, collaborative environment, thus hindering information sharing through network centric operations.

The mission of the Association for Enterprise Integration (AFEI) is to help improve this situation through industry action and collaboration on key issues that enable net centric operations.

The strength of America's information infrastructure must be leveraged to support and accelerate the transformation of government to a network-enabled capability.
