To provide franchise compliance training to educate new franchisors about existing federal and state franchise regulations, the International Franchise Association has designed a comprehensive training program. The goal is to help franchise systems avoid violations of these regulations that could lead to litigation or legislation.
Step One: It's Regional
IFA is committed to helping its members fully comply with all applicable federal and state franchise laws. This educational program contains content specifically designed to educate new and start-up franchisors about franchise sales and compliance issues.
The existing Compliance Training Program will be presented at regional locations and offered to all new IFA members on a complimentary basis during the first year of their membership. The program will be presented in conjunction with the Federal Trade Commission and state regulators, as well as IFA's compliance program administrator, Delia Burke.
These efforts will complement the existing self-regulation program including on-line educational programs, the ombudsman program and the National Franchise Mediation Program.
Step Two: Compliance Expertise
Delia Burke is an expert in franchise law and formerly an assistant attorney general with the Division of Securities of the Maryland Attorney General's Office. During her tenure there, she was responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Maryland Franchise Registration and Disclosure Law and the Maryland Business Opportunities Sales Act.
