The campaign is intended to show that HSBC, which has a global network, is also committed to local retail banking.

The promotion kicked off in the spring when the bank held a contest to select "New York's Most Knowledgeable Cabbie." The winning driver was awarded a contract to drive the HSBC BankCab full-time through December 31. The institution estimates that about 15,000 customers will receive free rides during that period.
