Idaho COP unit rejects 'Christian state' proposition.

The Kootenai County, Idaho, Republican Central Committee has rejected a non-binding measure that would have declared Idaho a "Christian state." The Spokane Spokesman-Review reports that nearly two-thirds of the committee's members opposed the proposition.

The measure would have declared that Christianity is "under strident attack" in the United States and requested that Idaho be "formally and specifically declared a Christian state." It also asserted that America is a Judeo-Christian country, as evidenced by the Declaration of Independence's reference to God. Had it passed, it would have progressed to the state Republican Party for a vote.
