The International Accounting Standards Committee Foundation has named former Italian Minister of Economy and Finance Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa as its chairman. The group oversees the London-based International Accounting Standards Board, which is responsible for developing international accounting standards.

Padoa-Schioppa previously served as chairman of the trustees, from January 2006 to May 2006, at which time he was asked to become minister of Economy and Finance.
