The IADC is peerless. No other legal organization provides its members and their families with the opportunity to develop professional relationships and personal friendships across five continents. The unique value an IADC membership provides is one reason why our organization is growing and well-positioned for the future.

Today, many different types of organizations are struggling with membership. I believe there are two fundamental reasons for this: visibility and value. First, many organizations are not "visible" to potential membership candidates. In our busy lives, with the constant bombardment of information from various media, it is not surprising that some organizations struggle to "make their mark" and raise their profile in the cacophony of the marketplace. In order to be "visible" to potential members, an organization must become recognized as a trusted source of information and results in a relevant market.

For the past ninety-five years, the IADC has established its profile as a leading legal organization for attorneys representing corporate and insurance interests. Our invitation-only members are legal thought leaders, trial professionals and subject matter experts across a broad range of global practice areas. In the ever-evolving and increasingly crowded legal marketplace, the IADC leadership recognized the need to reinforce its position through a deliberate campaign known as the Visibility Project. Started under Immediate Past President Molly H. Craig, the project is now led by third-year Board Member John T. Lay. As a part of the project, we have engaged a major public relations firm with close ties to numerous legal media publications. This firm sources opportunities to profile our members and their experience when a relevant media inquiry is received. The program is closely coordinated through our Substantive Law Committee leadership, based on the subject matter of the inquiry. We are also actively developing the second phase of the Visibility Project, and there will be more news once we finalize what I am certain will be another exciting initiative that will further establish the IADC's unique place.
