Humanities Initiatives at Community Colleges
(NEH)
Scope: The National Endowment for the Humanities
seeks applications for the Humanities Initiatives at
Community Colleges announcement to strengthen the
teaching and study of the humanities at community
colleges by developing new humanities programs,
resources (including those in digital format) or courses,
or by enhancing existing ones.
Deadline: July 16, 2020.
Funds: $3 million for up to 20 awards of up to $150,000.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities.
Areas: NEH said activities may include but are not
limited to: creation of humanities-based curricular
pathways toward graduation and/or transfer to four-
year institutions, if applicable; opportunities for faculty
members to study together, in order to improve
their capacity to teach the humanities; creation or
enhancement of humanities resources for the purpose
of teaching, including oral histories, literature or
lm, teaching modules or guidelines on how to use
humanities resources in the classroom; or development
of curriculum-focused digital humanities projects,
including podcasts, mapping tools or digital resources
for distance learning that can be used on- or offline.

New Directions for Digital Scholarship
in Cultural Institutions (NEH/AHRC)
Scope: The National Endowment for the Humanities
and the United Kingdom’s Arts and Humanities
Research Council seek applications for the NEH/
AHRC New Directions for Digital Scholarship in
Cultural Institutions announcement to advance digital
scholarship in cultural institutions such as museums,
libraries, galleries and archives.
Deadline: Aug. 18, 2020.
Funds: $1.2 million for up to 15 awards of up to $150,000.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities; nonprot
organizations; and state, local, special district and Native
American tribal governments.
Areas: NEH said there are several key areas for future
study, with an emphasis on four themes: employing
machine learning and articial intelligence in cultural
institutions; fostering digitally enabled participation;
developing enhanced information on cultural institution
visitors; and creating and interrogating all document
types and unlocking new data.
