If there's one thing as certain as Christmas, it's that ornament maker Rauch will be driving a Lincoln. That's all the former state legislator has driven for 30 years - except for one Cadillac, which he wrecked a month after he bought it. "I figured it was bad luck, so I went back to Lincolns."

1990 Cadillac Seville Owner: Fred Webb Fred Webb Inc., Greenville

Webb, owner of a feed-grain distributorship, has driven only Cadillacs since 1952 for practical reasons: "It's a very sound car, comfortable and economical." But, he admits, "I can't say I coveted a Cadillac. My lot was to trade with my neighbor" a Caddy dealer.

1982 Mercedes 300SD turbo diesel owner: Ken Iverson Nucor Corp., Charlotte

You wouldn't think Iverson - known for his penny-pinching ways at one of the nation's most successful steel makers - would drive a foreign car. But it makes sense: He's always been a free trader. He plans to give the car to his granddaughter in November and start driving his wife's Mercedes 300SEL. "She's going to get a new car. That's the way it always works."
