Houston chapter continues tradition of excellence.

The of Tax Executives Institute is "to serve its members, their employers, and society generally by facilitating interaction among, and the training of, members and their staffs." Nowhere is the mission exemplified more than in the Houston Chapter. A mainstay of the chapter's efforts is its Spring Tax School which is two weeks long (one week in February and one week in May) and which provides high quality CPE to approximately 500 Houston tax professionals.

A new offering this year is the chapter's TEI/LMSB Joint Winter Tax Conference. Held on December 2, 2008, this was the first joint education seminar with the Houston-based LMSB. There were approximately 250 participants; 125 from LMSB and 125 from the Houston TEI Chapter. The organizers of the program were TEI members Mickey Culpepper of Baker Hughes Inc. and David Fine of Apache Corporation and LMSB Territory Managers James Ellis and Kathy Kruchten.

The program consisted primarily of panel presentations featuring the following: Keith Jones, LMSB Industry Director (Natural Resources & Construction); Bernie Nelson, NRC Area Counsel; Emile Robertson, Director of Field Operation, NRC; Robert Ray, NRC Energy Industry Advisor; Brian Haley, LMSB Regional Appeals; and John Repsis, LMSB Associate Area Counsel International; Nicholas DeNovio, previously IRS Deputy...
