2009 Houston chapter report.

PositionChapter News

It is with great pleasure that I submit this report for the Houston Chapter for fiscal year ending June 30, 2009. The Houston Chapter had an exceptional year of providing educational programs to its members, associate members and guests. The Chapter provided 45 separate educational programs attended by more than 3,200 individuals. All of the sessions were pre-qualified for CLE and CPE credits. Chapter activities and accomplishments for the year are discussed further below.

Monthly Luncheon Meetings

Ten monthly luncheon technical sessions were held during the year. This number excludes the September meeting that was cancelled due to Hurricane Ike damage. Each luncheon program featured an outside guest speaker covering a topic of current interest to the membership.

Luncheon Meetings--Roundtable Technical Sessions

The Chapter sponsored 3 separate tax committees to hold periodic roundtable luncheon meetings throughout the year to discuss technical tax topics of mutual interest. The committees include International Tax, IRS Administrative Affairs, and the Woodlands roundtable. (The Woodlands roundtable is held in a northern suburb of Houston for the convenience of members working in that area of town.) The International Roundtable held 9 roundtable meetings during the year. The IRS Administrative Affairs Roundtable held 4 meetings. The Woodlands Roundtable held 4 meetings.

Houston Chapter Tax School

The 21st annual Houston Chapter Tax School was held over a 10day period, February 2-February 5 and May 4-May 8.
