José Augusto Palma is Vice President & General Counsel for Hochschild Mining in Lima, which he joined in July 2006 after a 13 year legal career in the United States, where he was a partner at the law firm of Swidler Berlin and later worked for the World Bank. He also served two years in the Government of Peru, first in the Office of the Prime Minister and later as Advisor to the Minister of Economy & Finance. José has Law degrees from Georgetown University and the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico and is admitted to practice as a lawyer in Mexico, New York and the District of Columbia. Prior to his appointment as Vice President & General Counsel in October 2008, José served as Senior Adviser to the Executive Committee of Hochschild Mining plc.
