AuthorBeckman, Gary

The recipient of this Festschrift has labored in the vineyard of ancient Anatolian studies for almost forty years. As may be seen in the bibliography of his works (1960-1994 and several items in press) compiled by J. Jie and presented here, he has devoted his attentions primarily to the recovery of the history of the Hittite Empire and to the study of the grammar of Hittite, Luwian, and Lycian. Appropriately, most of the contributions to the volume deal with the history and culture of Hatti and its "Neo-Hittite" successors and with grammatical questions concerning the languages of the Anatolian sub-family of Indo-European.
