When the fourth-floor renovation of the former Dillon Supply Co. warehouse in downtown Raleigh is completed this month, Citrix Systems Inc. will have the space to add 250 to 300 people to its staff of 650--and it shouldn't have any trouble attracting employees. The business-software company's new 170,000-square-foot site, which opened last October, offers a much different ambience than its warehouse days. There's a fitness center with a yoga studio and basketball court; a stadium-seating area with projection screens for meetings and movie nights; a subsidized restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner; a rooftop bocee court; and spaces with pingpong and pool tables and beanbag chairs. It's a workplace designed to promote fun and relaxation. "We want employees to be healthy and happy at work," says Jesse Lipson, vice president and general manager for data-sharing.
