From the outside. 2011-12 CalCPA Chair Ed Jordan's office looks like one of the more impressive business offices you'd find in any office park. And once inside, You aren't disappointed. It pretty quickly becomes clear that something special is going on. This is the home of premium booze. The decor and furniture makes it feel more like a plush home than an office. and the bottle labels dating hack hundreds of years gracing the walls are a reminder that you're amongst sonic of alcohol's richest history. The picture on the wall of Jordan and Arnold Palmer only heightens the effect.

There's a sense of history in everything to do with Jordan, who's been married for 38 years and has forked at Nolet Spirits I. the importers of Kew' One vodka and Nolet gins for 14 years. where he is CFO and senior vice president of operations. The Nolet Distillery has been owned and operated by the same family him more than 300 Years that's 10 generations for those keeping track in the cheap seats.

The introduction to the Nolet office in Orange County can be likened to the introduction to Jordan himself. Firstly, from the outside Jordan is all business.

"He's always on the phone." says his colleague. Amy, who introduces me to the portrait of the consummate professional. The high-backed leather chair. done up in the classic style. compliments Jordan well. He is perfectly at home amidst the plush carpet and historical art on the wall. This man is definitely in control of his demesnes. And he'd he the first to tell you that he approaches everything with a strategic and logical precision, which is the way he hopes to conduct his year as Ca1CPA chair. As you dig a little deeper, you'll find a man who is married happily to and speaks fondly of his wife, Mary; runs his own entertaining and insightful blog (http://mycfocareer.com); has a love for his heritage (he moved here from Ecuador when he was 19); and is quick to poke fun at his colleagues. But, to be fair to him, they usually start it.

"They're taking your picture today?" asks eleventh generation family owner Carl Nolet Jr. of Jordan. "How much time do you have?" he jokes with me. That being the second person to tease about Jordan's photographic nature to a jovial relationship he has with his colleagues (more than one asked why he was wearing a tie).
