Hempel clears hurdle for business park building.

Minneapolis-based Hempel Real Estate plans to break ground this spring on a 75,000-square-foot business park project in Brooklyn Park.

The Brooklyn Park City Council granted a rezoning request related to the planned office, warehouse and manufacturing building, which will rise at 9501 Louisiana Ave. N. The site is at the north end of Louisiana and on the south side of Highway 610.

Hempel requested a zoning change to "increase the usability of the site," according to a city staff report. The change requires a site plan review, which will be up for City Council approval in June, city officials said.

Specifically, the property is currently zoned "business park with highway overlay," and the developer requested a change to "planned development overlay," according to the staff report.
