Sara Brown saw the scars of the 1994 Rwandan genocide with her own eyes. The senior at Clark University in Worcester, Mass., spent last summer in Rwanda, training the staff of its local courts to handle the trials of thousands of genocide suspects. Brown spoke to UPFRONT about the experience.

Could you feet the aftermath of the genocide?

Yes. You could feel [the tension] in the air. I think a lot of people are nervous about it happening again.

Do you think many will be brought to justice by the Gacaca Courts, Rwandas Local. court system?

I hope so. I believe this is their chance. For the victims ... to have the wrongs that were done to them not necessarily righted but at least acknowledged.
