Many adults are living with undiagnosed learning disabilities that have plagued them throughout their lives. Contrary to popular belief, learning disabilities typically do not disappear after childhood. According to the Mayo Clinic Women's HealthSource, the good news is that many new programs and laws can help adults with learning disabilities.

Adults with a learning disability (LD) often view themselves as incompetent, not smart, or socially awkward. Signs of LD can include slow reading, poor reading comprehension, bad spelling, problems understanding written or verbal instructions, difficulty reading maps, and confusion with deadlines and schedules. These symptoms can indicate a language-based LD such as dyslexia or a nonlanguage LD that can affect math and spatial skills.
