* President Joe Biden has nominated Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Charles "CQ" Brown, Jr. as the 21st Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. If confirmed, he will replace Army Gen. Mark Milley, who is retiring in October.

Along with Brown, the president nominated Lt. Gen. Donna Shipton to become the commander of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, and Gen. Eric Smith to become the next Marine Corps commandant.

Brig. Gen. Scott Cain has assumed command of the Air Force Research Laboratory. Cain replaced Maj. Gen. Heather Pringle, who has retired after 32 years of service.

Maj. Gen. Robert Barrie, Jr., the Army's program executive officer for aviation, has been assigned to become the deputy for acquisition and systems management in the office of the assistant secretary of the Army for acquisition, logistics and technology. Wes Hallman. NDIA's former senior vice president of strategy and policy, is now executive vice president for business development and head of Washington operations at Beacon Interactive Systems.

Former Air Force and Space Force chief technology officer Preston Dunlap has joined SOSi as a strategic advisor.

HII's Newport News Shipbuilding division announced several promotions and retirements, effective July 1. Rob Check has become vice president of in-service aircraft carrier programs, replacing Todd West; Thomasina Wright has assumed the role of vice president of fleet support programs, replacing Gary Fuller; and Julia Jones has succeeded Ron Murray as vice president of quality.

Meanwhile, HII's Mission Technologies division has promoted Garry Schwartz to chief operating officer and Todd Gentry to president of its C5ISR business group.
