Army Gen. Laura Richardson has taken over as commander of U.S. Southern Command from Navy Adm. Craig Faller.

Vernon Saunders was named senior vice president of SAIC's national intelligence community business unit. In this role, he will manage SAIC's intelligence community work and report to Michael LaRouche, president of SAIC's national security and space sector.

Heidi Grant, former director of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, was selected to lead Boeing's defense, space and government services sales team as vice president of business development.

Tactical & Survival Specialties Inc. announced the retirement of its founder Bill Strang, who was also a long-time and active member of NDIA's Special Operations/Low Intensity Conflict Division. Strang started the company in his garage in 1980. It grew into a leading equipment supplier for law enforcement and first responders. The company will continue as part of Noble Supply and Logistics--a privately held global supply chain company headquartered in greater Boston that acquired the company in March.

Meanwhile, Noble has acquired another company, Federal Resources of Stevensville, Maryland. It supplies technical safety and security solutions serving the military, federal government and state and local first responders
