* A year after the Trump administration took office, some key acquisition positions in the department and services are beginning to get filled and nominations put forth.

Former Army program executive officer Kevin Fahey, well-known to attendees at NDIA robotics and tactical wheeled vehicles conferences, was nominated as assistant secretary of defense for acquisition. He mostly recently was employed as vice president of combat vehicles and armaments for Cypress International.

Another familiar face at NDIA shows, Special Operations Command's James "Hondo" Geurts was sworn in as assistant secretary of the Navy for research, development and acquisition.

Col. William T.Nuckols was named the first director of the Army's newly established project office for maneuver robotics and autonomous systems. The new organization located at Fort Benning, Georgia, will be responsible for integrating the technology into doctrine, organization, training, materiel...
