Rocky Mount is suffering another blow to its corporate pride. Fast-food chain Hardee's Food Systems Inc. is moving its headquarters -- and 75 employees -- to St. Louis by the end of the summer. Hardee's was acquired in 1997 by Anaheim, Calif.-based CKE Restaurants Inc. CKE transferred about 200 jobs from Rocky Mount to Anaheim in 1999. Hardee's will keep a 75-employee regional office -- a net loss of 35 jobs -- in Rocky Mount, where the company was founded in 1961.
