Happy New Year: sales and use tax rate decreasing.
The statewide sales and use tax rate decreased from 7.50 percent to 7.25 percent as of Jan. 1. The decrease in the statewide rate is effective for all California cities and counties; however, actual sales and use tax rate may still be higher than the statewide rate in many Jurisdictions due to the addition of district taxes.
