A hand-held device designed to clean up biological contamination was introduced by Intellicon Inc., of Santa Ana, Calif. The system is called the Bio Sweeper.

The Bio Sweeper deploys UV-C ultra-violet germicidal technology--which has been used for years in water and air purification systems--to combat a wide range of viruses, bacteria, spores and other infectious microscopic bodies that can endanger human life, said Intellicon President Gary Halmbacher.

The device moves in side-to-side or up-and-down motions over objects thought to be contaminated, whether mobile or fixed, he explained. The operator can position it over any surface--including electronic equipment, a wall, carpet, desktop...
