Within a few days time, Thomas R. Case, dean of the University of Alaska Anchorage College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP), will convene the inaugural UAA/ABM Executive Forum. It will be the first session in a series of colloquia in which leaders from business and the college academic faculty meet together to discuss business policy issues and relevant academic perspectives.

Cosponsored by Alaska Business Monthly magazine, the quarterly discusions are designed to enhance the college's efforts to become more closely involved with the business community. Likewise, business will have the most effective in-put pipeline ever to curriculum designers and those who teach students about business as they help them to qualify for the best paying and most rewarding jobs that Alaska has to offer.

The topic for the first Executive Forum will be: "What is the role of ethics in business and what should students know about it?" Proceedings from each of the discussions will be summarized and appear as articles in ABM.

Upon becoming dean, one of the first things Case did was to create a CBPP Business Policy Advisory Council to re-invigorate UAA's connection with the business community. Topics for the first several Executive Forums, including the initial topic on business ethics, came from the council, a blue ribbon panel of 40 experts from various sectors of Alaska business and economic activity.
