H. Fees for Obtaining Public Records

Section 610.026, RSMo 2016, sets limits on the costs of searching for and copying public records:

· For paper copies (up to 9 x 14 inches), the fee is 10¢ per page plus copying time. Section 610.026.1(1).

· Copying time is billed at the average hourly wage for clerical staff of the entity times the actual amount of time for copying. Id.

· Research may be billed at the actual cost of research time. Id.

· Public entities must produce the copies "using employees of the body that result in the lowest amount of charges for search, research, and duplication time." Id.
