For 20 years, H.C. Price has quietly set the standard for high quality and cost-effective performance in Alaska's challenging construction industry.

Founded 75 years ago in Oklahoma, H.C. Price has become a world leader in pipeline and oilfield construction. In 1974, the company came to Alaska to build Section 3 of the transAlaska pipeline system, which crossed the territory from the Salcha River to the Yukon River. This three-year project became the cornerstone of H.C. Price's reputation in the state.

"Our experienced staff has enabled us to continuously improve productivity and maintain cost controls on our projects," says Wes Nason, Vice President and General Manager of H.C. Price's Alaska office, headquartered in Anchorage.

Pipeline construction and maintenance make up half of H.C. Price's work in Alaska. The company's projects across Alaska include: multiple jobs along the trans-Alaska oil pipeline for Alyeska Pipeline Service Co.; and installation of more than 80 percent of the pipeline on Arco Alaska Inc.'s east operating field in Prudhoe Bay.

"Our engineering and qualitycontrol personnel have been instrumental in developing new work techniques and constructibility methods for Arctic pipelines. Because of this, we contribute valueadded services beyond original project scopes," says Nason.

H.C. Price's Alaska division has diversified to become an industry leader in process and power facility construction. The company performed much of the major process facility construction for BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. and major module installation projects for Arco on the North Slope. Recognized as the state's most experienced powerhouse contractor, in 1991 H.C. Price completed construction of the powerhouse at the Bradley Lake hydroelectric dam.
