The 2011 New York Census - The State of Women Business Leaders in New York State finds that the number of women serving as executive officers and members of corporate boards is on the rise among the state's largest public companies, but moderately so.

This is the third in a series of studies of the role of women in the top tiers of management and governance conducted by the Women's Executive Circle of New York Inc., in conjunction with Columbia Business School. In the study, Ann P. Bartel, Merrill Lynch professor of Workforce Transformation at Columbia, noted that gender diversity has gotten better on board boards of directors and in the executive suite.
