In reference to your April 2004 article "Fast Jets Not Ideal Choice for Close Air Support" I can say "well done." In the case of the A10 specifically, this outstanding aircraft was largely imposed on the Air Force who regrettably (until more recent years) had shown outright disdain for those on the ground by systematically attempting to remove these aircraft from the inventory.

They became battle tested in Iraq in Gulf War 1, where by all accounts they performed brilliantly, and sustained horrifying amounts of damage from the ground (that would've destroyed anything else in...
