Dear S/R:

My own view is that Greens need a long-term strategy, and need to discuss elections only within that framework. I do not believe any individual (even Ralph Nader) would alone make much difference in this country unless there is a mass movement to fight for the environment and social justice. It's the "Save Us Oh Great Father on the White Horse" syndrome.

I have no problem with Greens individually endorsing Kucinich or Sharpton, and then when or if they lose supporting the Green candidate.

I'd take it even a step further. I would not be too bothered should individual Greens endorse Howard Dean, so long as he (or other Democratic candidates) sit down with us, address certain essential issues and negotiate with us on them. But that's for individual Greens. That's a far cry from what we should do as an organization.

So many Democrats are arguing with the Greens not to run a candidate, when the real question is not on...
