Southcentral Foundation received a $60,000 one-year grant from the Avon Foundation Breast Care Fund. This marks the 10th year Southcentral Foundation has received the grant, which aims to increase awareness of the benefits of early detection of breast cancer. The Breast and Cervical Health Program at Southcentral Foundation educates Anchorage-area Alaska Native women and refers them to low-cost or free mammograms and clinical breast exams in their rural communities. The program also serves women from the Municipality of Anchorage, Matanuska-Susitna Borough and more than 70 rural villages of Southcentral Alaska.
