Graduation ceremonies, professional sports given the go-ahead in NJ.

Class of 2020 students will be permitted to participate in outdoor graduation ceremonies starting July 6, Gov. Phil Murphy announced Tuesday, with guidance expected Wednesday.

The direction will include social distancing requirements and other health and safety measures, with the potential for large class graduations to be spread out over multiple days and times to ensure proper adherence.

"Our goal is to ensure our students are given the sendoffs they richly deserve," Gov. Phil Murphy said during Tuesday's daily COVID-19 briefing in Trenton. "Certainly these will be graduations unlike any others. The steps we are taking are necessary to ensure the health and safety of everyone in attendance, but we are equally as confident that no one will ever forget the way we will celebrate the class of 2020; amen to that."

This applies to any graduation of any sort, Murphy said.
